Necessary must-haves at home in Covid time

Coronavirus (COVID19) is an infectious disease that has changed the world with a different perspective towards life. The global pandemic has made us extra cautious while stepping outside the home. Using a mask and sanitiser has become one of our most important habits now.

WHAT IS COVID-19?

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered virus known as coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down the transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, how the disease causes and how it spreads.

To protect us from the infection we need to:

  • wash our hands frequently
  •  use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser
  • not touch our face
  • wear a face cover or mask.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

This virus spreads through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. To prevent ourselves from this contagious and infectious disease, we have to use certain preventive measures such as social distancing, using masks and sanitiser.

With the second wave, the essential product list for COVID19 disease is getting more heat. The second wave is already creating havoc with severe effects & the third wave is supposed to be more powerful and dangerous. In order to prevent ourselves, we have to be more careful & follow the necessary precautions.

Till now the pandemic has affected crores of people worldwide, and it is still increasing.

In this horrifying pandemic situation, we have to be cautious, aware and put our best efforts into making us free from infection. Here is the list of essential products that we need the most which will help us prevent this disease:

NECESSARY GEARS TO FIGHT COVID-19

  • Face Mask:

A face mask is an essential thing that we must carry before stepping outside of the house. The face mask helps us to keep away from respiratory infections which are highly contagious. Healthcare professionals suggest that individuals with COVID-19 who are not showing any of the flu-like symptoms (asymptomatic) can even spread the infection to others. Using the mask or face over is of utmost necessity. A simple cloth mask is also sufficient to cover our nose and mouth

  • Face Shield:

Just like a face mask, the face shield is a hindrance to helping your respiratory system clear from foreign bodies. It is optically clear and protects the face and the mask from direct splatter. Wearing a mask or shield protects us and the people around us.

  • Hand Sanitizer:

In this pandemic, a hand sanitiser is one of the most essential products which we must always carry. Be it our home or while we are outside the house, we should always keep our sanitisers handy. We must keep your hands clean in this COVID situation. We must wash our hands for twenty seconds with a soap or cleanser. But when we do not have access to water & a hand wash nearby, we can use the sanitiser to clean our hands. We must also keep in mind to always carry a hand sanitiser containing a minimum of 60% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol.

  • Temperature gun (Infrared Thermometer)

Having a high-grade fever is one of the common symptoms of coronavirus with a cough. A thermometer is an essential product to measure fever and its variation. In COVID-19 instances, measuring a body temperature from a distance provides safety from virus contamination via person-to-person contact. That’s why a temperature gun is more important in the COVID-19 pandemic than a regular thermometer.

  • Pulse Oximeter:

Due to the coronavirus,  we are able to know about the pulse oximeter- a commonly used hospital gadget. Breathlessness and a low level of oxygen are early symptoms and signs of COVID-19 disease. It is a painless and non-invasive method to check our blood oxygen levels. The pulse oximeter passes beam rays of different lights through our fingers and checks the level of oxygen in our blood that passes to the ends of our body. A simple reduced lung function also can also appear on this.

  • Disinfectant Spray

Disinfectant sprays are necessary to clean our cellphones, car doors, bike handles, vegetable baskets, etc. We can use it easily to clean any surface which might be exposed to the virus. It is advisable to keep them in our car or purse and use them frequently.

  • First Aid Kit:

Everyone must have at least one first aid box. We must ensure that our first aid kit contains all essential medicines such as paracetamol, painkillers, thermometer, etc. If anyone at home is suffering from chronic disorders like diabetes, or hypertension, we must then stock up on these medicines too.

There are numerous things that we want to keep in our homes during this pandemic. However, the most essential products such as sanitiser, mask, and face shield must be present in every household. It is likely to feel anxious in such unprecedented times but we must not be a panic buyer & hoard the essential products at home.

It is better to purchase things as per our needs only. We must always remember that these essential items are to be used by all of us and we must ensure that these are distributed fairly among others by not hoarding larger quantities.

Let us be hopeful, follow all the preventive measures & pray to The Almighty to help us emerge from this global pandemic really soon.
